Clipboard+ Setup
Select the ShellToys XP item from the Start menu, or ShellToys XP Settings from the ShellToys menu, and choose the Clipboard+ page. This page is also shown when you choose Options from the context menu in the Clipboard+ window.

Clipboard+ is an extended clipboard utility which runs invisibly in the background while you work. Each time you copy text, graphics or files/folders to the clipboard in any program or window, Clipboard+ stores a copy of the same item, up to a maximum number of items that you choose. (When the maximum is reached, older items are removed to make room for new ones.)

At any time, you can open the Clipboard+ window by pressing a hotkey and view the stored clip-items. Any item can be copied back to the clipboard by double-clicking it, ready for pasting again. You can also delete individual items or clear the entire store.

To use Clipboard+, check the Enable Clipboard+ checkbox. You can then use the options below to select a hotkey for it and choose the maximum number of items it should store. Click Apply to apply the changes.

When enabled, Clipboard+ starts automatically each time Windows starts. To stop using Clipboard+, just uncheck the Enable Clipboard+ box. (Note that stopping Clipboard+ does not remove the items it has stored. Use the Clear History option in the Clipboard+ window to do that.)

Choosing a hotkey
The Modifier and Key fields let you choose the hotkey combination to use when you want to open the Clipboard+ window. Make sure the hotkey you choose isn't already used by Windows, or commonly used by applications, such as F1 or Ctrl+X. By default the hotkey is Win+V. Use the 4 checkboxes to choose the modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, Alt, Win in any combination) and select a key from the Key list to the right.

Setting the maximum number of stored items
You can choose to store up to 250 items (although we recommend using a much lower setting - the default is 25). Each item is stored in a separate file, and those files will occupy some disk space, particularly for any graphics you copy to the clipboard. (Copied files and folders are stored as text references, so they take very little space.)

After choosing a new hotkey and/or a maximum number of items, click Apply to apply the changes to Clipboard+.
